My place to discuss game related stuff, as a gamer and developer.

Dear Stardock,

From your announcement, I take you are doing maintenance for Total Annihilation yourselves.

I was very happy to find an old classic I loved revived, and recently purchased it.

However, there are a few graphic glitches in the game. They are not fatal, but are annoying.

1) During the game, sometimes there is a flickering of black horizontal bands on the game. It is not continuous, but happens several times during a mission. Most of the time the screen is OK.

2) The mission end screen uses a palleted image, and the pallete is putting some wrong colors. Most of the image is corrected colored, but a few color codes in the pallette are swapped, causing parts of the image to become either bright yellow, magenta, cyan, bright green or some other easy to spot off-color.

3) Transitioning between the menus to the gameplay causes mighty screen flickering and show part of the desktop. It does not look good.

Gameplay:

1) although the game can nicely be scaled to full-HD resolutions, it is has major drawbacks on those high res. The major problem is the map at the top left. it gets way to small to be useful. In practice, anything greaterthan 1024x640 (for widescreen monitors) is unplayable, because the minimap is unusuable. If you can get a game option to scale up the minimap, like the ability to do a 2x increase in the minimap, will be great. Even if you simply double the size, without providing any option for size, will do, since the computer screens are all so much bigger than they were back then (and we have widescreen).

I play TA 1600x900 without issue (2x 4890 in crossfire), so I don't what the problem is. It is still a very old game though...

Are you playing in Windowed or Fullscreen mode?

This may be something that we look into, but most of our changes were to simply get the game working on modern OSes.
